Unsaid · Last updated 16 August 2026

The short version. Unsaid records your voice so it can coach your speaking. Recordings stay on your phone. To score a take we send the audio for transcription and the resulting text for review, then we discard it — we do not keep your recordings or transcripts on our servers. We don't sell your data, and we don't use your voice to train AI models. You can delete everything from inside the app at any time.

1. Who we are

Unsaid ("we", "us") is a speaking-practice app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have. If you have questions, contact us at hello@unsaidhq.com.

For users in the EU/EEA and the UK, we are the data controller for the personal data described here.

2. What we collect

Voice recordings

When you record a practice take or hold a conversation with the coach, the app records audio. Recordings are stored on your device. They are sent to our processing partners only to produce a transcript and a coaching review (see section 4), and are not retained by us afterwards. The app deletes old recordings from your phone automatically based on your setting in Settings → Keep recordings (default: 30 days), and you can delete them all instantly.

Transcripts and practice results

The text of what you said, your scores, filler counts, speaking pace, word lists and session history are stored on your device. Transcripts are transmitted for review as described in section 4.

Information you give us

During onboarding you provide a first name (used only to address you) and answers about your speaking goals. These are stored on your device and used to personalise your plan.

Technical and usage data

We collect anonymous product analytics — which screens are opened, which practices are completed, whether a purchase happened — to understand how the app is used and improve it. This is tied to a random identifier, not your name or email. We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or browsing activity.

Account

Unsaid does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your email address. To let the app talk to our servers securely, each installation is issued an anonymous identifier. It is not linked to your identity.

3. Why we process it, and our legal basis

4. Who processes your data

We use the following sub-processors. Requests are routed through our own server so that no third-party API key is stored in the app, and so we can limit what is sent.

These providers act on our instructions. Under their current terms, they do not use data sent through their APIs to train their models. Some are located outside the EU/EEA; where that is the case, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. What we do not do

6. How long we keep things

On your device: recordings are deleted automatically on the schedule you choose (7, 30 or 90 days, or kept until you delete them). Scores and history are kept until you delete them.

On our side: audio and transcripts are processed and discarded, not stored. Anonymous analytics are retained for up to 24 months.

7. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because most of your data lives only on your device and we hold no account tied to your identity, the fastest way to exercise deletion is in the app:

Settings → Delete everything. This permanently erases your recordings, scores, reviews, conversations and word list from your phone.

Deleting the app also removes this data. For anything else, contact hello@unsaidhq.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in Sweden, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY).

8. Children

Unsaid is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

Traffic to our servers uses TLS. Third-party API keys are held server-side and never shipped in the app. Your recordings and history are stored in your app's private container on your device, protected by iOS.

10. Changes

If we change this policy materially, we'll update the date above and notify you in the app.
